I teach iPhone imaging classes in the Bay Area and around the country. If you would like to get better results from your iPhone camera, let me help you. I offer group classes and one-to-one lessons. I also lead trips abroad, where we shoot, eat, and enjoy great wines, in some of the world’s most wondrous settings. My programs will make you a better iPhone photographer. Please read on for pricing, dates, and programs. The images here I have recently submitted to photo contest for the Mid Peninsula Regional Open Space District
Olympus Stylus 1 Trials at Russian Ridge is part 1 of a series of photos I have taken with my new Olympus Stylus 1 Camera. I am slimming down my camera bag for upcoming trips to Mexico, Northern California, and Denver. This amazing piece of equipment takes beautiful images and weighs so very little compared to my Nikon DSLR. These shots, taken at Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve, show some of the capacity that this little gem of a camera has, equipped only with its factory settings. [Read more...]
Happy Tuesday Housewrighted! I wanted to share a short video I built for my iPhone imaging class this past weekend at Miraflores Winery. I created this video with a fun, new photo app called PhotoMotion . It’s fast, easy, and can make a pretty powerful video, all using just the iPhone or iPad. All of the images here were either taken with the iPhone or edited with the iPhone. The final version of the video was completed on the iPad air (for ease of viewing). The class was big success, and we will be doing more group intro classes in the coming months throughout Northern California.
In the meantime, if you would like to learn some of the techniques I use to create images, I urge you to fill out a contact form and sign up for one of my one-to-one classes.
My next iPhone Imaging class is in the California Wine Country’s El Dorado County Feb. 22nd at Miraflores winery. This is my third event with Miraflores and I could not be happier working with this fine winery and great group of people. I am pleased to announce we have 6 spots left for this 4 hour intro to iPhone imaging (and wine tasting).
We will touch on composition and light, as well as the tools to process images into fantastic memories and/or pieces of art. Please see the winery posted details below and give them a buzz if you would like to join.
Hope to see you there! [Read more...]
At long last, the site I have envisioned since 2010 is a reality. For those of you here from The Blissful Adventurer, thank you for your amazing support over the years. I hope you will enjoy this new iteration of my work and share once again in the comments and details of what I am posting.
What the hell is a Housewrighter? That is a great question. A friend of mine in San Francisco suggested that my previous site sounded like a new age retreat, and that I am far from new age. I agreed with him immediately, and set out to find a new name to better illustrate what I do. He mentioned that my surname carried a lot of weight, and that perhaps something incorporating it would be better for branding. While I generally despise marketing terms, I trusted him, and within a couple of days I had come up with this: [Read more...]

Travel and the Ethereal — A mobile photography exhibition Michael and Juliet Housewright are mobile phone photographers inspired by years of foreign travel. Their work has been featured in yearly shows in Denver, Vermont, and the outstanding online publications, Your Life is a Trip, and Hipstography. Their first exhibition at Miraflores features images shot using only an iPhone in Hong Kong, Italy, California, Utah, Vietnam, and Colorado. Their work often blurs the lines between the concrete and the abstract. What is apparent immediately is how close the viewer feels to the subjects of the photos and how incredible the sense of place has been captured using only a mobile phone. You may see more of their work at www.theblissfuladventurer.com or at Miraflores. A reception for the artists both days at 1 pm.
Travel and the Ethereal is our first solo photo gallery show! Artists’ receptions November 2nd and 3rd at 1PM each day, with wine and one-on-one time with Juliet and me. This is one of the proudest moments of my adult life and 2+ years of devotion to this craft to make it happen. If you are in Northern California we would love to see you, and please tell your friends. It is because of the amazing support I have received on this blog that I am at this point in my career. A huge thank you to my amazing readers and brilliant colleagues. [Read more...]

In what was enormous good news around our camp, Juliet and I had images selected by a professional jury for the 3rd Annual Gallery NRC Mobile Phone Photography show in Denver Colorado. All images must have been taken and edited (preferably) with a mobile phone. As many of you know Juliet was in the show last year with this amazing shot of Venice. The show runs September 26, 2013 – October 19, 2013 and is free to the public. We will have framed images and prints for sale at the exhibition. We are fully committed to continuing our lives in this creative pursuit and one day hope to operate a gallery of our own.
Please enjoy viewing these images as we enjoyed capturing and editing them.
I was recently published in a very cool online magazine for Hipstamatic photographers called Hipstography. This gallery of 18 of my native Hipstamatic images from my journey to Hong Kong was a real honor. To date, this has been my most successful photography trip and I look forward to returning there soon. I encourage you all to check out Hipstography and give a shout out to its fabulous author, Eric Rozen (the blog is in English and French) While I have been noticeably absent from my blogging duties I have been quite fortunate with my photos lately as I will share in subsequent posts.
I appreciate very much all the support from fellow bloggers over the past 2 years and my art is starting to gain traction thanks largely to your encouragement and readership. Stay tuned
