iPhone Puglia Vacation - Join Me!

The Iconic Trulli Cones of Puglia

The iPhone Puglia is an 8 day - 7 Night Journey with me, The Blissful Adventurer, and iPhone Photography Icon  Sam Krisch to the must-see region of Puglia, Italy. From October 22-29 of 2013 an intimate group of passionate travelers will experience the most authentic journey into the heart of Southern Italy. Equipped with iPhones, passion, and lots of local wine, we will document one of the last remaining realms of traditional Italian living. Southern Visions Travel, the most authentic operator in the region will be managing every detail for us on this trip, and trust me, they are the absolute best in the business

You will get to experience Puglia like Juliet and I have experienced it for years. You will explore thousand year-old olive groves, a 19th century converted fortress now making some of the best wines in Italy, and even hang out with local octopus fishermen cooking their morning catch just for you.

Each guest or couple will have their own unique apartment in the whitewashed hillside town of Locorotondo. Wine for a $1 a liter can be filled at the local shop, coffee aromas fill the air each morning giving way to the smells of fresh drying laundry under the bluest afternoon skies. You will eat, drink, and love like locals, while learning to create gorgeous images on your iPhone, worthy of the memories they represent.

We will dine together in local places serving food farmed, harvested, or raised often a few steps from the restaurant. We will walk in the footsteps of  Romans, Greeks, Saracens, Normans, and other Blissful Adventurers that have swooned under the languid days of luxurious life in Puglia.

Unlike any other vacation in Italy you will spend your time each days with an eye towards experience and creation. You will be seeing Italy the way it wants to be seen, and while there is a plan, there is no script. Your images will make this an experience completely your own.

The Beautiful Baroque of Lecce

I will be there each day shooting as well, eating, drinking, and laughing along with you. This is a vacation from the banality of of life and canned Italy tourism. Memories, built here in Puglia, will shape your travel lives for years. After my first time in Puglia I knew it would be hard to find its equal, and I have not.

Follow this link  for the full itinerary and pricing. Contact me directly at michael@blissfuladventurer.com with any questions, or feel free to fill out the contact form here on my site. We have limited spaces available and Sam, Juliet, and I would love you to join us.

Point Reyes Images #2

Ripples and Reflections

Point Reyes Images is a series of shots from my recent exploration of one of the most remote and beautiful parts of the Pacific coast of California. Today's image is McClure's Beach just below Tomales Point (yesterday's image). I have a fondness for the patterns in the sand made by the surf and tides. This lovely dusk reflection of the sandy promontory in the background adds a lovely yin to the yang of ripples in the foreground, The surf in the distance seems so inviting but is alas quite chilly and inhospitable.

Tomorrow's Point Reyes image is a hidden beach and perhaps even more uninviting....

Here is a reminder of my upcoming instructional workshop for iPhone photography.

Point Reyes Images #1

Tomales Point above the Pacific

Point Reyes Images is a series of shots from my recent exploration of one of the most remote and beautiful parts of the Pacific coast of California. The allure of Point Reyes comes from its isolation, gorgeous waters, access to roadside oysters, and surprising to me, its wildlife.

I captured this first image of the Pacific on a typically easy hike along the trail of Tomales Point. Tomales Bay is the bit of inlet water where some of the finest oysters in America are harvested on a daily basis during the season. I enjoy very much the succession of coves each with their own patterns of sea break and craggy rocks.

Tomorrow's image  - a hidden Point Reyes beach.

Here is a reminder of my upcoming instructional workshop for iPhone photography.

iPhone 4 - Recommended Photo Apps and Snow Shots

I have been enjoying my iPhone 4 camera since our trip to Asia in the spring. Now I am finding more and more that I prefer using it to my very expensive DSLR. While the iPhone 4 camera cannot compete with the overall capacity of my Nikon D7000; for portability, ease of use, excellent blog shots, and small prints I find the iPhone 4 cannot be beaten.

The iPhone 4s has just hit the market and its camera is 1 step better. I imagine I will have this new phone/cam by Xmas.

Here is a short list of my favorite iPhone 4 Camera Apps

Hipstamatic - The original cool camera app that has multiple lenses and films (pieces of software) that age, enhance, and cool-ify your everyday shots.

Pros - Photo Contests, Ease of use, and fun to play make it a winner.

Cons - Not enough manual control and too much guesswork sometimes on how it will develop

Camera+ - This is now my go to app for creating controlled shots from the phone.

Pros - Multiple processing options and the ability to use the LED as a constant (great for dim lights food shots)

Cons - The HDR settings are dodgy

True HDR - My newest app and I am just experimenting with this. I have seen some amazing work on Google+ with this app

Pros - True HDR photography and processing with an iPhone

Cons - You must have a little tripod to do this correctly otherwise your shots will not align

Instagram - It looks like Instagram is taking over the social-media component of iPhone photography

Pros - Universally accepted standard for social media photography

Cons - My least favorite of the iPhone apps for ease of use and getting my photos on the computer. Not a big fan, but I see the Appeal

In the meantime, enjoy some of recent iPhone 4 snow shots and stay tuned for more iPhone shots in the future.
